Using Twitter To Generate Traffic to Your Site
- 4 Comment
As we all know Twitter is a new Social Networking site which allows users to send “updates” to the Twitter website, via short message service, instant messaging, or a third-party application such as Twitterrific. So as it updates instantly, it can be used to generate alot of traffic. Alot of people started using twitter these days and using Twitter to bring traffic is an art form all of its own, and is totally unlike anything you will do anywhere else. Many people think its a waste of time but what i think is that they dont exactly know ho useful twitter can be.
Ok lets start now, Here are some things you can do to bring traffic from twitter to your blog or website but before that you need to make an account on Twitter. Its easy and simple, Just go on their website and register for an account. Its totally free.
Now coming back to the point of using twitter as a marketing tool for your blog. You can market your blog on Twitter by getting an audience of followers that may not know you because of your blog directly. Every time you update your blog, just login to twitter and make announce it on twitter but it doesnt mean you start spamming links and announcing a new link after every 5-10 mins. This way you will lose your followers and so your trick to bring traffic from twitter will fail so twitter has to be used the way your followers expect, generating traffic is just a bonus.
You can not only get traffic from your followers but there is also a timeline given telling about the updates of other people on twitter. When you will announce an update on the timeline your followers will also be able to see the update apart from other people. So you might be thinking that its really complicated but its not. Its an easy way to generate traffic and its all free.
Driving social network traffic is never quick or easy, but you can build up a reputation which will result in regular visitors to your site, who have every chance of becoming regular customers. So just try twitter or install its firefox plugin to update it quickly.

Wouldn’t it be considered as a cheap traffic just like digg or stumble upon?

well sometimes these traffic can be good when it comes to link development. i agree with you that SU traffic is cheap but not digg because the things you submit to digg do come up on top sometimes in the google search. hope this answers your question

It’s considered Cheap traffic in sense, if you’re looking to have them click on your ads (which is very unlikely or less from a social networking site), then yes, it is Cheap traffic.
But if your content is good, anyone coming from Digg, SU or even twitter can be a good asset because it’s giving you the ability to grab them as one of your readers.

Its Cheap traffic if you look onto it as a means of generating money. Its not always about getting clicks. Twitter will give you opportunity to follow and get followed by like minded people, with similair interests and hobbies and once you grow your network, you can generate fan following develop ‘brand value’ for your blog, website etc.
In a nutshell, if you have good content you can popularize yourself in an intelligent community.May 2nd, 2008 at 8:47 pm
