How to edit Theme from the Theme editor in Wordpress

Recently I have noticed that lots of people including myself are facing issue with wordpress. Whenever you try to edit your theme from theme editor it says “If this file were writable you could edit it.” The solution to it is really simple. All you need to do it logon to your websites control panel, for example www.abc.com/cpanel. Once you get there simple click the “File Manager” link and from there you need to locate the files you need to edit from wordpress which are probably located in wp-content/themes/ThemeName/footer.php or Header.php whatever you need to change. After finding that specific file just right click on the folder icon and click “Change Permissions” and check the required boxes and you’re good to go. Check out the pictures below and follow this simple procedure.

Step 1 - Logon to your Cpanel and click File Manager

Step 2 - Click Public_Html

Step 3 - Click Wp-Content

Step 4 - Click Themes

Step 5 - Choose the Theme and Change Permissions

From here, just select your theme and you can change the settings of any file you want

Alternate - Edit your files using Ftp
